Crowns and Bridges
Crowns
Crowns cover the entire surface of a tooth like a cap. A durable porcelain crown can be used to restore the strength of a decayed or damaged tooth, and can also be used to hold a dental bridge in place.
In addition to the restorative dentistry uses for dental crowns, they can also be used to conceal cracks, chips, or discolorations.
Bridges
Dental bridges fill in gaps left by missing teeth to recreate the appearance and function of a full set of teeth. A bridge is composed of an artificial tooth that is placed in the gap and held in place by crowns attached to the remaining teeth on either side.
Bridges facilitate proper chewing and speaking, and help to prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment. In addition to the restorative benefits of bridges, they also offer many cosmetic benefits.
